I'm starting this thread to share experiences with activations at the Childsbury Towne WMA, US-9198. If you have activated this POTA park, please add your comments and pictures to help others who might want to come to this park and activate.
Childsbury is a nice small heritage preserve that is rich in history and located next to the west branch of the Cooper River. Location is somewhere between the limits of Moncks Corner and Cordesville. Plenty of setup area either in the small parking lot, or a short walk to the fishing pier. Also, nice to sit in the shade under the old oak trees in the area.
The area is quite popular with tourist and fishing enthusiast. Often there are several cars parked and people using the fishing dock.
Radio ops are quite good. RF quiet, and room for any antenna you would want to set up. Good choice to use a vertical whip or wire antenna hung from a tree limb. Be mindful of ropes in the old historic trees and leave no trace.
Attached are a few pictures that I took today during my activation.
